HIMGA Board—Called meeting

September 27, 2023

The meeting was called to order by President Jack Deaton, with the following members present: Terry Bushay, Fred Neely, Davd Moon, Jack Deaton, Ernie Christian, and David Baker. The minutes from the previous meeting were read. MOTION: by Ernie, seconded, to approve the minutes as amended regarding the HIMGA/HILGA Tournament. Approved. No Finance Report since this is a called meeting.

 Club Championship: Concern about eligibility of two players. Trent Anderson - should be able to complete enough rounds. Ernie Christian – Due to his wife’s illness, he has not been able to play this year. After discussion, since Ernie is a Board member, the Board decided not to allow Ernie to play in the Championship. This might set a different precedent which we do not want to be tied to in the future. There was discussion of the times for play – for Wednesday, October 11, the tee time will be at 1 pm. For Thursday, October 12, the tee time will be at 9 am.

 Schedule: The schedule did not list October 31, which would be our last day for this season. The Board decided on the format of 3 clubs plus putter scramble. No swapping of clubs during the round.

 Memorial Plaques—Pam Neely and Wally have volunteered to contact the surviving family members as possible regarding the wording for each plaque and to gently inquire about donations.

 There was discussion regarding the play of the same nine as a league handicap round. At the Breakfast, we will propose that this be included in the Rules of Golf for the League.

 White/Green Tees: There had been a suggestion brought to the Board regarding having all players use the green tees (and silver). There are 18 regular players using the white tees and 26 using the green tees. No decision.

 The Tournament Committee for the HIMGA/HILGA Tournament will start in January. Some ideas are to have an afternoon start time with a meal following, guests and spouses could buy a meal, silent auction, and gift bags.

 There has been some concern regarding publicity. Terry will set up a HIMGA FaceBook page. This would be in addition to the HISID weekly newsletter. Also, would there be interest in have an afternoon 9 hole group alternating each 9 hole each week? Ed shared that there are 72 or 73 on the roster and that we are averaging between 30 and 35 playing each week. Also, there are 24 over the age of 80 which means they pay no annual fees. Would we like to have a Veterans Banner?
