HIMGA Board Meeting July 6, 2010
Meeting called to order at 9:30am by President Dick Smith. Present were Dick Smith, Bob Parks, Ron Blasucci, Clint Miller, Gerry Potter, Dave Deschane, Don Shafer, John Inman, Lyn Westling and Barry Storie. Meeting was held on July 6th because of rain out of Tuesday golf. Minutes from last meeting were not read because the Secretary didn’t have access to the minutes. The following were discussed: John Inman will update rules for Match Play playoffs as there was concern about where to start a playoff. John will give the update to Dick Smith for a vote next meeting. Clint Miller currently puts out our sponsor signs on the 1st hole tee box. Since Clint only plays 9 holes there is no one available to take down the signs at the end of play. Dick Smith volunteered to take down the signs at the end of the day. The reasons for the lack of nine hole players on Tuesdays was discussed. Bob and Ron will discuss changing the Tuesday nine hole games to 2 handicap and 2 scramble games with the Old Coots to see if that would increase participation on Tuesdays. Barry Storie asked if check in procedures were going well. Consensus was that they are. Barry mentioned that consideration is being given to switch the front and the back nine. The golf council will discuss this. Barry mentioned that he would like to cover the patio at the back of the club house with a permanent structure to allow people to eat outside and accommodate over flow from the back dining area. He will not be asking for funds from HISID but will ask for contributions from golfers and possibly HIMGA. He is also considering pool and dart tournaments as fund raisers. Volunteers will build the structure to keep costs to a minimum. Barry is looking for support for the idea but not necessarily monetary. Cassville tournament competition is scheduled for next week July 19th. Clear Creek Golf Cart Company in Bentonville has asked to be a sponsor next year. Meeting adjourned at 11am. Next meeting August 11th at 7am.
